The congress program includes
  • Plenary lectures by international experts on the latest research information and methods on CAM practices (health care integration, international harmonization of regulations, disease application and socio-economic aspects).
  • Symposium talks by invited speakers and free communications in many CAM areas, including regulation, herbal medicines safety and efficacy, clinical trial and research methodologies, mind-body, exercise, TCM and acupuncture, CAM practice evidence, socio-economic aspects, chiropractic and paediatric CAM and homeopathy. Systems included are Chinese, Ayurvedic and western medicines in the health areas of cancer, pain and diabetes and other conditions.
  • Workshops: there are a number to choose from on Saturday 29 March, specifically Herbal Medicines and Globalisation of TCM, Herbal medicines for brain and behaviour: from bench to bedside, TCM practices and research as well as chiropractic and mind-body medicine.
  • Mini-Conferences in CAM-education, chiropractic, TCM and paediatric CAM
 

The International Society for Complementary Medicine Research is a worldwide not-for-profit professional association devoted to fostering co-operative and multidisciplinary research and development as well as the application of knowledge in the fields of Complementary, Traditional and Integrated Medicine. ISCMR was established on November 22, 2003 at the 10th Annual Symposium of Complementary Health Care in London, UK.

Aims of the Congress

  • To bring together the world's leading experts of clinical and basic research in Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM)

  • To provide the state of evidence for the most widespread treatment methods and to present latest results from research

  • To discuss basic evaluative concepts, methodologies and strategies appropriate to CAM

  • To evaluate the contribution of meaning/ context effects, self regulation and specific effects

  • To discuss the role of CAM in disease prevention and public health settings

  • To be a three year rotation meeting of International Society of Complementary Medicine Research (ISCMR) between North America, Europe and Asia Pacific
